Raised circular bezel with the Hippocampus figure cut in. See Ancient Rings, Pollio, p. 80 for a virtually identical example. The hippocampus was a mythical sea creature with the forebody of a horse and the rear of a fish, which accompanied Poseidon. Fine preservation with the 24karat gold surface restored for modern wear.
